Running and gait

A look at how you run, with a plan for the miles you want to keep.

Clarissa and the team look at how you load each stride, on the treadmill and on the road near the clinic. We write down what to change, what to keep and how to build your training back up.

This care is for you if

  • You run, from a first 5K to a marathon block

  • Your training plan and your body no longer agree

  • You want a second set of eyes on your stride

  • You are coming back to running after time off

What we do

What happens in your hour

  • A look at your stride

Cadence, strike and how each leg takes the load, watched and talked through with you.

  • Strength for the road

The hips, calves and trunk work that supports the miles, set to your week.

  • A plan you can run

Which runs to keep, change or pause, in writing, so a training block has a shape.

What to know before you book

  • What decides how many visits

That depends on your exam, what you are training for and how your body responds. Your therapist explains what decides it and checks in every visit.

  • When to see a doctor first

See a physician first, or call 911, for chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, or loss of bladder or bowel control. Your therapist will also send you to a physician if the exam points that way.

Questions about this care

Do I have to stop running?

Often not. Your therapist tells you which runs to keep, change or pause, and writes it down.

Do you film my stride?

Where it helps, with your say-so, on the treadmill. The video stays with your record.

Can you work with my coach?

Yes, if you ask us to. We share your plan of care with your coach, and only what you agree to.
